TADA (Teens Against Domestic Abuse), the first organization of its kind created and led by South Florida teens, will hold a panel discussion on November 5th, 2009. Presented by Sapere Group, the event, "Break the Silence: Break the Cycle," is aimed to shed light on domestic violence and how it transcends age, social and ethnic groups.
The rapid spread of COVID-19 overwhelmed hospitals that were unable to contend with the increasing number of patients, many requiring ventilators and other critical care. Such conditions can put medical workers at risk. Now researchers are studying methods to increase hospital safety and efficacy during the pandemic.
Rapid testing during labor can enable pregnant women with undocumented HIV status to learn their HIV infection status so they can receive antiretroviral prophylaxis and be referred for comprehensive medical care and follow-up according to a report in the current issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Two of the four known groups of human AIDS viruses (HIV-1 groups O and P) have originated in western lowland gorillas, according to an international team of scientists from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Montpellier, the University of Edinburgh, and others.
