Researchers at Rice University in Texas have developed a new approach to fighting cancer, based on nanoscale particles that can both detect and destroy cancerous cells. The report appears in the April 13 issue of the American Chemical Society's journal Nano Letters.
The American Medical Group Association (AMGA) today announced 19 leading medical groups and organized systems of care that will be participating in its ACO Development Collaborative, scheduled to have its first meeting in conjunction with the AMGA National Summit on Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). These organizations represent more than 10,500 providers serving approximately 5 million patients in the United States.
Despite a risk of stroke, left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) – heart pumps – work better than medical therapy in keeping seriously ill congestive heart failure patients alive, according to Columbia researchers.
A new automated sample preparation system based on Tecan's Freedom EVO- 200 liquid handling platform has been developed for proteomic biomarker discovery and validation in collaboration with the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) and the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University.
For the first time, researchers have treated an animal model of a genetic disorder using a viral vector to deliver genome-editing components in which the disease- causing mutation has been corrected.
