In a new study, Roswell Park Cancer Institute researchers have demonstrated that an approach shown to improve outcomes for patients receiving colorectal surgery is just as effective in patients requiring many other abdominal and pelvic operations.
Takeda Pharmaceuticals Company Limited will present sub-analyses from the global EXAMINE (EXamination of CArdiovascular OutcoMes: AlogliptIN vs. Standard of CarE in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Acute Coronary Syndrome) cardiovascular (CV) safety outcomes trial in a poster session at the American College of Cardiology's 63rd Annual Scientific Session in Washington, DC.
Metabolic syndrome is more likely to affect children who are obese than overweight or non-overweight and who have other characteristics associated with the disorder, such as high blood pressure or insulin resistance. A new comprehensive and systematic review of the medical literature on metabolic syndrome in children that probed deeper to evaluate the risk associated with gender, ethnicity, and geography was published in Metabolic Syndrome and Related Disorders, a peer-reviewed journal from Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers.
To honor six cancer survivors featured in its newest international ad campaign, NanoString Technologies, Inc. will donate $6,000 to the American Cancer Society. The "Dear Cancer Researcher" participants courageously shared their personal stories of triumph to help the biotechnology company launch its newest product, nCounter SPRINTâ„¢ Profiler, a system that gives researchers the tools and opportunity to think beyond current everyday practice.
