Louisiana State University researchers recently published findings that blight leads to an increased abundance of disease-carrying mosquitoes.
A review article authored by a researcher at the Translational Genomics Research Institute, an affiliate of City of Hope, suggests that following menopause, women are at higher risk for developing nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, a chronic condition caused by the build-up of excess fat in the liver not caused by alcohol.
Cancer is a difficult disease to treat because it's a personal disease. Each case is unique and based on a combination of environmental and genetic factors. Conventional chemotherapy employs treatment with one or more drugs, assuming that these medicines are able to both "diagnose" and "treat" the affected cells. Many of the side effects experienced by chemotherapy patients are due to the fact that the drugs they are taking aren't selective enough.
When it comes to remodeling our bones-an ongoing process of break down and renewal that goes on throughout adulthood-researchers have new evidence that our guts play a surprisingly important role.
