Shelley White-Means, PhD, a professor of health economics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, is the principal investigator of a paper published this month in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health that found breast cancer support groups play a major role in helping underserved African-American women at risk for or diagnosed with breast cancer in Memphis.
Hologic, Inc., a leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of premium diagnostic products, medical imaging systems and surgical products, with an emphasis on serving the healthcare needs of women, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the Aptima HPV 16 18/45 genotype assay for use on the Company's fully automated Panther system.
Physio-Control, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Medtronic, Inc.,, announced the company's recent initiation of a field correction on certain LIFEPAK 20/20e defibrillator/monitors manufactured prior to January 9, 2009. Analysis conducted by Physio-Control verified a possible battery (DC) power malfunction on the affected devices. In the malfunction scenario, a loss of battery power may occur while the unit is in operation.
