The New York Stem Cell Foundation Research Institute has entered into a partnership with the Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative to build resources for studying Parkinson's disease to accelerate new treatments. Sponsored by The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, PPMI is a landmark effort to identify and validate biomarkers of Parkinson's disease.
States that received funding from two obesity prevention programs founded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention implemented more than twice as many obesity-prevention policy initiatives as states that did not receive funding, according to a study by researchers from RTI International.
The Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) presented Kathleen Brewer-Smyth, PhD RN CRRN, with the 2013 ARN Doctorate-Prepared Researcher Role Award. Dr. Brewer-Smyth received her award at the 39th Annual ARN Educational Conference, held October 2-5 in Charlotte, NC.
Every state can now lay claim to the nanotechnology revolution. Data released today by the Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies (PEN) highlights more than 1,200 companies, universities, government laboratories, and other organizations across all 50 U.S. states and in the District of Columbia that are involved in nanotechnology research, development, and commercialization. This number is up 50 percent from the 800 organizations identified just two years ago.
