A National Alert for Serious Medication Errors was issued yesterday by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, warning health care practitioners about dangerous medication errors that could be caused by a shortage of EPINEPHrine pre-filled syringes.
One reason why obese children and teenagers are more likely to have hard-to-control asthma and allergies may be vitamin D deficiency, a new study finds. Results of the study will be presented Tuesday at The Endocrine Society's 95th Annual Meeting in San Francisco.
According to recent studies, one in five adult women and one in 100 adult men have reported being raped. The prevalence increases to two in five among women and one in five among men who report experiencing other forms of sexual violence, such as repeated unwanted sexual contact and sexual coercion.
Just in time for back-to-school and fall sports, a series of six infographics aims to educate players, parents, nurses and coaches about concussion symptoms and treatments, so they can keep their heads in the game. Developed by the physician-researchers at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's "Minds Matter" program, these materials offer the most up-to-date tips for detection and treatment of youth concussions
