Anthera Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company developing drugs to treat serious diseases associated with inflammation, today announced that it has notified the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that the company has placed a voluntary hold on PEARL-SC, the Phase 2b study of A-623 for the treatment of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (lupus), due to problems found with product vials.
It's the most common form of skin cancer, but in its advanced stages, basal cell carcinoma has the potential to become disfiguring and life threatening. An international phase 2 study headed by Mayo Clinic led to the recent Food and Drug Administration approval of the first drug of its kind to help advanced basal cell carcinoma patients who have few treatment options.
