GTC Biotherapeutics, Inc. announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement whereby the Company has regained US commercialization rights to ATryn from Lundbeck, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of H. Lundbeck A/S in Denmark.
It's long been known that alcohol use in pregnancy can lead to children with mental retardation and birth defects, but researchers who study fetal alcohol syndrome have not made definitive progress on preventing the disorder, detecting it early, or effectively treating it, say researchers from Georgetown University Medical Center.
About 2 million people die of malaria every year, of which more than a million are children in sub-Saharan Africa.
Two new studies released early Wednesday show that AIDS drugs can prevent heterosexuals from acquiring HIV, adding to a growing number of new methods to slow the spread of the virus world-wide.
Mice with a lower calorie intake live longer and are both healthier and leaner. A team of researchers funded by the SNSF may have found the reason for this positive effect: much of it is down to gut microbial communities and how they affect the immune system.
