Boehringer Ingelheim and Eli Lilly and Company today announced a global agreement to jointly develop and commercialize a portfolio of diabetes compounds currently in mid- and late-stage development.
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health, has awarded more than $11 million in first-year funding for nine research projects supporting enhanced diagnostics to rapidly detect antimicrobial-resistant bacteria.
Segasist Technologies, a Canadian software company developing contouring productivity tools for medical imaging, has today announced the receipt of funding from The Health Technology Exchange (HTX) towards support of clinical validation of its software, to be conducted at the Lawson Health Research Institute and London Health Sciences Centre (London, Ontario). Experts from Sunnybrook Research Institute and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre will also participate in the validation process by providing input in the form of gold standard contours.
Scientists at the Gladstone Institutes discovered that an enzyme called SMYD2 could be a new therapeutic target for flushing out the HIV that hides in infected individuals. Overcoming this latent virus remains the most significant obstacle to a cure.
A new report launched today by The African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) measures African government's investment in children and confirms that a country's commitment to child rights and wellbeing is not dependent on their economic status, but rather on political will and spending priorities.
