The World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) today signed an agreement to work together to foster diversity and equity through global initiatives promoting health and sport for everybody, everywhere.
Researchers at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine have been awarded a $1.57 million renewal grant from the National Eye Institute (NEI) of the National Institutes of Health to continue their study of corneal infections, specifically, bacterial keratitis, associated with contact lens wear. The grant will extend the work initiated last year with the receipt of a $2.4 million, five-year grant from the NEI.
A very rare sub-type of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Waldenström's Macroglobulinemia affects approximately 1,500 - 2,000 people in the United States each year. While it is not curable, Waldenström's Macroglobulinemia is slow growing, and in many patients, manageable as a chronic disease.
The Hill: Some Republican leaders may not be fully embracing a Senate bill aimed at repealing the health reform overhaul despite other GOP endorsements. "Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), GOP Conference Chair Lamar Alexander (Tenn.) and Conference Vice Chair Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) have all argued that the reforms — passed in March without Republican support — will hike costs and erode services, and therefore should be scrapped.
