The brain undergoes dramatic change during the first years of life. Its circuits readily rewire as an infant and then child encounters new sights and sounds, taking in the world and learning to understand it. As the child matures and key developmental periods pass, the brain becomes less malleable-but certain experiences create opportunities for parts of the adult brain to rewire and learn again.

The first eight months of the year have been very successful, with the Company attaining many of its goals, despite a very difficult economic environment, which has created challenges for many small biotechnology companies. Today, IMUC is in its best financial position ever and well positioned to validate the success it achieved in a Phase I trial for ICT-107, its dendritic cell-based cancer vaccine product candidate.
A recent study published on the preprint server bioRxiv in October 2020 shows that in patients with chronic lung disease, the pattern of gene expression in the different types of cell changes such that the lung epithelium is prepared to tackle SARS-CoV-2 infection. Also, the altered gene programs have an impact on the immune response.
