Ipsen, a global biopharmaceutical group, today announced that its partner Roche today announced the implementation of a risk mitigation plan in the taspoglutide Phase III programme. Taspoglutide, the first once weekly glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogue based on a human sequence, originating from Ipsen's research is developed by Roche. This compound is similar to the natural hormone GLP-1 which has a key role in blood sugar regulation.
Arthrosurface has received FDA clearance to launch its cartilage surface implant system for the treatment of patello-femoral disease.
Scientists at Joslin Diabetes Center have found genetic regions that, when defective, allow the immune system to attack the pancreas - the first in a series of mis-steps that lead to type 1 diabetes. Armed with these findings, published yesterday, March 22, in the journal Immunity, the researchers are now trying to hone in on the exact genes involved, in mice and in human patients.
A new research project, led by a team from St George's, University of London and Kingston University as well as Cardiff University, has received major funding from the National Institute for Health Research to develop personalized rehabilitation programmes to help patients live well with long Covid.
