Evidence continues to mount that exercise provides many benefits to help people look and feel younger. The March issue of Mayo Clinic Women's HealthSource offers a recap of the many benefits of regular exercise.
The New York Times reports that both parties are calling for a window into the deficit-reduction panel's deliberations. Meanwhile, Politico Pro offers scenarios regarding how the committee could potentially address Medicare's "doc-fix" issue.
Guidance for the prevention of type 2 diabetes out today from NICE urges GPs to step up efforts to get high-risk patients onto lifestyle intervention programmes. As trailed at the end of last year, the guidance recommends that GPs run checks on their practice register using a validated computerised diabetes risk tool and invite those falling into high-risk groups for a proper risk assessment, in line with the NHS Health Check programme.
Modern Healthcare: "States would have up to one year to repay the federal government a share of the money they recoup from fraudulent or improper Medicaid payments, under an amendment approved by the Senate Finance Committee. Under current law, once state inspectors identify fraudulent practices, they have 60 days to return a portion of the federal dollars back to the government. Under the new amendment, states would instead have a full year to make those payments while expanding the role of recovery audit contractors" (DoBias, 9/24).
