Australian biomedical engineers have successfully produced a 3D material that mimics nature to transform cells into muscle.
A new study on the effects of simulated microgravity, the condition that astronauts face in space, interferes with the epithelial barrier of the intestine, and the effect persists even after the astronaut returns to a normal environment. The research is published in the journal Scientific Reports.
According to the WHO, about 7 million people die each year due to air pollution. Particulate matter (PM) triggers inflammatory responses in the human body, causing asthma and other respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. It is more fatal for young and growing students. The Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) has reduced time required to remove particulate matter from the classroom by more than 30% by optimizing the locations of supply and return diffusers for air supplied into the classroom.
Osteoporosis, a condition characterized by weak and fragile bones, develops when there is an imbalance in the remodeling process and more bone is lost than replaced. Now, new research published by Cell Press in the November issue of the journal Cell Stem Cell uncovers a mechanism that may guide development of better strategies for treatment osteoporosis.
Nolato Medical is excited to announce the addition of liquid silicone injection molding to its US facility in Baldwin WI, Nolato Contour. Nolato Contour is currently adding its third clean room, a Class 7 clean room that will accommodate the new liquid silicone injection molding machines. Completion for the building and equipment expansion is scheduled for the spring of 2011.
