Noven Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today provided an update on the status of its pending Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) seeking approval to market a lidocaine topical patch 5%. Noven's lidocaine topical patch 5% is a generic version of Endo Pharmaceuticals' Lidoderm.
According to the National Coalition on Health Care (NCHC), the number of Americans who are travelling overseas for medical treatment reached somewhere in the region of 500,000 last year.

Based on research performed using laboratory rats, a team of neuroscience researchers at Rutgers University-Newark suggest that an intricate system exists within the brain for establishing individual preferences, which ultimately impacts choices.
Women, who suffer from an extreme form of morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), are shelling out $7,000 for a drug not yet approved for use by expectant mums because they are desperate to control their illness. HG leads to severe nausea, dehydration and fatigue and may require hospitalization. It affects up to 3 per cent of pregnant women - about 9,000 per year in Australia. It may lead to termination of the pregnancy.
A new free resource allows researchers to use Medicare and other payer claims databases to identify and meaningfully characterize medical imaging by noninvasive or invasive procedures, modality, body region and clinical focus. Developed by the Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute, the Neiman Imaging Types of Service (NITOS) coding platform is an open source classification system, allowing users to readily extract utilization and cost data to examine the role and value of medical imaging.
