Immune Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has amended its 2003 Licensing Agreement with Endo Pharmaceuticals Inc., a subsidiary of Endo International plc. As a result, Immune will transfer to Endo its previously licensed patents related to the use of topical lidocaine in acute and chronic back pain and Endo will grant Immune a royalty-free, non-exclusive, fully transferable license to those patents.

Intrauterine devices (IUDs) may lower risk of cervical cancer

According to a recent study, intrauterine devices (IUDs) used by women for contraception might lower the risk of getting cervix cancer compared to women who do not use this form of contraception. The review titled, "Intrauterine Device Use and Cervical Cancer Risk: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis" from the Keck School of Medicine of USC appeared in the online November issue of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

FDA releases two draft guidance documents to help fight tobacco epidemic

Today the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released two separate draft guidance documents to help fight the tobacco epidemic and stop children from using tobacco. The draft guidance documents implement provisions of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act that will ultimately provide the public with previously unknown information about the chemicals in tobacco products and help prevent misleading marketing about the risks associated with tobacco products.
