A study conducted in Sweden found that more than 40 percent of widowers in that country whose wives died from cancer four or five years earlier reported they were either never told that their spouse's cancer was incurable, or they heard this information during the last week of her life.
A new Yale School of Medicine study shows that cases of serious physical abuse in children, such as head injuries, burns, and fractures, increased slightly by about 5% in the last 12 years. This is in sharp contrast to data from child protective services agencies, which show a 55% decrease in physical abuse cases from 1997 to 2009.
Aradigm Corporation today announced positive top line data from its recently concluded Phase 2b study (Once-Daily Respiratory Bronchiectasis Inhalation Treatment - ORBIT-1) with Aradigm's ciprofloxacin for inhalation (CFI, ARD-3100, LipoquinTM) in patients with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis (BE).
China plans to issue new policies that would bar celebrities and other wealthy people who violate the country's one-child-per-family policy from receiving awards such as "honorary citizen," Yu Xuejun - director of the department of policy law and regulations for the National Population and Family Planning Commission - said recently, Xinhua/China Daily reports.
