In just 10 years, this nation could have a shortage of between 46,000 and 90,000 physicians. This is according to a recent report released by the Association of American Medical Colleges. Major contributing factors include a growing and aging population, plus one-third of practicing physicians with plans to retire in the next decade. These shortages are expected to be particularly challenging for communities the size of Toledo competing with larger metropolitan areas to attract future doctors and caregivers.
Autophagosomes are at the center of attention, at least since the Nobel Prize for Medicine was awarded for research on autophagy in 2016. The much talked about autophagosomes are small membrane vesicles in charge of waste disposal to promote recycling of its components.
Carbon nanotubes - those tiny particles poised to revolutionize electronics, medicine, and other areas - are much bigger in the strength department than anyone ever thought, scientists are reporting. New studies on the strength of these submicroscopic cylinders of carbon indicate that on an ounce-for-ounce basis they are at least 117 times stronger than steel and 30 times stronger than Kevlar, the material used in bulletproof vests and other products.
USANA Health Sciences, Inc. announced today that results of a large, third-party clinical study involving USANA products, conducted at the University of Colorado Denver (UCD), have been published in the August 2009 edition of the journal Obesity and Weight Management.
