Treatment to reduce recurrence of hepatitis B appears to improve liver transplant outcomes for some patients, according to a Mayo Clinic study presented at the American Transplant Congress under way May 1-5 in San Diego.
Abiomed Inc., a leading provider of breakthrough heart support technologies, today announced that the initial clinical data from the safety study for Symphony was presented by Renzo Cecere, M.D., FRCSC, FACS, Associate Professor of Surgery at McGill University, during the late-breaking clinical trials session at the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) 2012 Annual Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
"Poverty is the leading cause of many vitamin deficiencies, especially vitamin A," and the problem is acute in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, where food staples such as cassava and rice are high in calories but low in nutrients, Inter Press Service reports.
Asymtek, a leader in dispensing, coating, and jetting technologies, announces that it will soon begin a process of refreshing its visual brand identity and be known as Nordson ASYMTEK. This modification is part of an initiative by its parent company, Nordson Corporation, to identify its businesses in the marketplace more clearly and consistently. All other aspects of what was formerly called "Asymtek" will remain the same.
Scientists at Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center have developed a novel treatment strategy for multiple myeloma that pairs two targeted agents to kill cancer cells. The study's findings, published in today's edition of the journal "Blood," are the first to demonstrate the synergistic, anti-myeloma effects of this combination regimen both in vitro and in vivo.
