In a new study presented at ANESTHESIOLOGY 2011, researchers from Thomas Jefferson University identified that multimodal analgesia, a combination of pain medication and therapeutic measures to improve pain control, is used less than 25 percent of the time prior to surgery.
The Wellcome Trust has awarded a £1.6 million Translation Award to a research team led by the University of Lincoln to develop more effective radiotherapy treatment for thousands of cancer sufferers by providing unique monitoring and imaging for patients receiving proton therapy.
Root extracts from the flowering herbal plant Corydalis yanhusuo, or YHS, has widely used for centuries as a pain treatment. Yet few studies have investigated how it works on different forms of pain, and little is known about its molecular mechanisms.
