Obese and overweight firefighters are not receiving weight management advice from their health care providers, according to new research from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Princeton University researchers have created "souped up" versions of the calcium-sensitive proteins that for the past decade or so have given scientists an unparalleled view and understanding of brain-cell communication.
Officials say they are expecting glitches, but most do not expect the crippling technical problems that afflicted last year's open enrollment period.
More research is required to establish whether Chinese herbal medicines can reduce the likelihood of developing diabetes, according to Cochrane Researchers. Although herbal medicines are widely used in Asian countries to treat pre-diabetes (impaired glucose tolerance or IGT), the precursor of the disease, researchers say there is still not enough hard scientific evidence to confidently recommend their use.
Polytechnic Institute of NYU (NYU-Poly) Assistant Professor of Technology Management Oded Nov has been selected to participate in the 2012 National Academies Keck Futures Initiative (NAKFI) conference, a prestigious think-tank-style gathering of researchers in science, engineering and medicine. Nov will join 100 colleagues for the conference, "The Informed Brain in a Digital World."
