An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) can be a ticking time bomb if undiscovered in time. However, researchers at the University of Pittsburgh are developing a new model to better predict at-risk patients. And the tools they are using apply mechanical testing to the human body - which is itself a complex machine.
IRIS International, Inc. a leading manufacturer of urinalysis systems and consumables for use in hospitals and commercial laboratories worldwide, today announced a new supply agreement for its full product line of automated and semi-automated urinalysis systems, related products, consumables and services agreements, with Amerinet Inc., a leading national healthcare group purchasing organization servicing more than 41,000 provider facilities, including 2,537 acute care hospitals.
Democrats are seeking momentum and votes - from both Democrats and Republicans - as leaders work to combine the two versions of reform approved by Senate committees.
"Colorado has declared a fiscal emergency and delayed payments to doctors and clinics taking care of the state's neediest patients. Under state law, the Medicaid department can delay reimbursements to doctors, hospitals and clinics during a fiscal emergency. Physicians treating patients with the health-insurance plan for the poor will not receive normally scheduled payments on June 25 or July 2, a hardship for safety-net clinics in particular that rely on public funds. State officials said they would begin catching up on payments July 9 after a new fiscal year begins" (Brown, 6/17).
