A newly developed, genetically modified pig may hold the keys to the development of improved treatments and possibly even a cure for retinitis pigmentosa (RP), the most common inherited retinal disease in the United States.
Studies have shown a high rate of depression among elderly homebound individuals, and few patients receive adequate treatment, if any. To address this issue, researchers at Rhode Island Hospital and other organizations have developed a telemedicine-based depression care protocol in home health care.
DePuy Synthes CMF today announced the launch of SYNTHECEL Dura Repair, the first commercially available biosynthesized dural replacement derived from cellulose for use in neurosurgery. DePuy Synthes CMF is a part of the DePuy Synthes Companies of Johnson & Johnson.
