New research by scientists at the University of Nottingham suggests that environmental contaminants found in the home and diet have the same adverse effects on male fertility in both humans and in domestic dogs.
"We need to revive the rights-based agenda and realign research priorities for women's health," journalist Priya Shetty writes in this SciDev.Net opinion piece. "The activists who fought to put human rights at the center of women's sexual and reproductive health, at the landmark International Conference on Population and Development held in Cairo in 1994, may have won the battle - but they are still fighting the war," she continues and outlines the "radical set of resolutions" produced by the conference.
"Workers who have received their annual enrollment packets for insurance benefits" should expect slight changes to their plans this year due to the health care overhaul. Most employees can expect to pay more next year, due in part to the 1 to 2 percent increase in insurance costs brought about by the law.
Although clots in the lung (pulmonary embolism or PE) are the second-leading cause of sudden death in the United States, blood tests and ultrafast CT scanning to detect PE are being used on so many patients that over 90% of these tests are negative.
Advitech Inc. announces today its intention to close its office on boulevard Lebourgneuf in Quebec City. Advitech's business operations will be transferred to its subsidiary in Calgary, Botaneco Speciality Ingredients Inc. ("Botaneco"). Following the merger of Advitech and Botaneco in November 2009, this is a significant step towards integrating and optimizing operations of the combined entity.
