Press Ganey Associates announces the formation of a new strategic consulting group to help further client improvement efforts. The Press Ganey Consulting Group, which consists of experts including former hospital administrators and medical staff, offers a unique perspective on the industry.
Researchers found that more than 97 percent of the surgeries for appendicitis were laparoscopic, or minimally invasive, and most patients were discharged the same day or the next day. Only 3 percent of the procedures resulted in complications.
Bioengineers from Rice University and physicians from Emory University are going to test whether a new "law of biology" can predict when a critically ill patient is about to worsen, and more importantly, which treatment is likely to prevent it.
