Princeton neuroscientists have been awarded a $4 million grant from the John Templeton Foundation to explore how the human brain enables us to pursue goals and juggle priorities in an environment full of distractions.
At 6:14pm yesterday, Debora Gore of Bristow, Virginia, received a phone call from renowned physician, author, and weight-loss expert Dr. Sanford Siegal who was calling to congratulate her on becoming the 100,000th registered member of CookieDiet.com, the official Dr. Siegal's COOKIE DIET® web site.
Researchers at the National Institute for Aging are working to improve understanding about obesity and cancer. A study, published today in the journal Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism, is the first to use direct radiographic imaging of adipose tissue rather than estimates like body mass index (BMI) or waist circumference, and focuses on the relationship between obesity and cancer risk in aging populations. Findings emphasize the negative impact of adiposity on long term health particularly for older men and women.
Kaiser Health News: "Proponents say that the legislation would spur competition among insurers and bring down costs for consumers. Reps. Tom Perriello, D-Va., and Betsy Markey, D-Colo., who are sponsoring the bill, said in a press release it would 'end special treatment for the insurance industry that allows them to fix prices, collude with each other, and set their own markets without fear of being investigated.' But many antitrust experts say that ending the exemption - by repealing the 1945 McCarran-Ferguson Act - wouldn't significantly increase competition or reduce premiums."
