A team of Johns Hopkins biochemists has identified a mixed bag of five key proteins out of thousands secreted into blood draining from the heart's blood vessels that may together or in certain quantities form the basis of a far more accurate early warning test than currently in use of impending heart attack in people with severely reduced blood flow, or ischemia.
A study published in the current issue of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics has examined the correlation between polyunsaturated fatty acids in the blood and the risk of post-traumatic stress disorder.
W. L. Gore & Associates today announced that the Food and Drug Administration has granted indication for the GORE VIABAHN Endoprosthesis to treat stenosis or thrombotic occlusion at the venous anastomosis of synthetic arteriovenous access grafts.
Research shows that high serum levels of interleukin-10 indicate that the likely cause of acute otitis media is infection with Streptococcus pneumoniae, as opposed to Haemophilus influenzae or Moraxella catarrhalis.
