UC San Francisco physician-scientists have developed a test that can predict how patients with juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML) will respond to treatment, and may also be able to identify patients who are likely to recover spontaneously with little to no treatment.
More than 4,000 extra wide seats were made to accommodate Brazil's increasing obese population during the World Cup this year. Obesity affects nearly 20 percent of the population in Brazil and is currently classified as a disability. This and other cardiovascular issues, such as the overuse of technology, will be the focus of the Brazilian Congress of Cardiology, a joint event with the European Society of Cardiology and the Brazilian Society of Cardiology, 26-29 September.

An article to be published in the December 2011 issue of The Quarterly Review of Biology argues that multiple sclerosis, long viewed as primarily an autoimmune disease, is not actually a disease of the immune system.
