In a new study published Monday, researchers from the US have isolated the enzyme that allows tuberculosis to destroy lung tissue. This discovery could speed the search for treatments.
A minimally-invasive treatment just became available to men suffering from prostate cancer in the United States. After more than 10 years of clinical trials, the Food and Drug Administration on October 9 approved the use of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), a procedure that can zero in on cancer cells while protecting surrounding tissue and minimizing chances for erectile and urinary dysfunction associated with other treatments.
The unwillingness of the global AIDS community to accept the status quo is fuelling a new era of scientific innovation to drive novel ways of treating and preventing HIV, organizers of the XVIII International AIDS Conference taking place in Vienna, Austria said today. And, with millions of lives dependent on expanding access to antiretroviral treatment to all those clinically in need, researchers and clinicians are partnering in new ways to find the most effective and efficient methods to deliver treatment and strengthen health systems.
The nurses 48 year-old Jennifer Annique Valentine of Reedy Creek and 51-year-old Michael George Gibbons of Hope Island, allegedly failed to alert doctors to an emergency situation and as a result a patient died.
