Two University of Illinois at Chicago researchers report in the Dec. 9 issue of NeuroReport (now on-line) that adult naked mole rat brain tissue can withstand extreme hypoxia, or oxygen deprivation, for periods exceeding a half-hour - much longer than brain tissue from other mammals.
Researchers from Mount Sinai School of Medicine have discovered a major mechanism underlying the development of tolerance to chronic morphine treatment. The discovery may help researchers find new therapies to treat chronic pain, and reduce tolerance and side effects associated with morphine use. The findings are published in the July 20th issue of Science Signaling.
The Regie d'Assurance Maladie du Quebec (RAMQ) recently advised Pfizer that they are examining all pharmaceutical card programs in Quebec. In light of this they have sent us a formal request dated June 16, 2010 to temporarily suspend the Lipitor Continuity Card Program. As part of our ongoing collaboration with the RAMQ, we have made the decision to temporarily suspend the distribution of the Lipitor Continuity Card in Quebec while they complete their analysis.
Twelve New Jersey hospitals and their participating physicians have received approval from the federal government to test an innovative new incentive method that aims to reduce healthcare costs while improving quality of care.
Patients with schizophrenia and negative symptoms are less likely than mentally healthy people to increase their efforts for higher levels of reward, research shows.
