Researchers at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center have uncovered a crucial molecular link between a viral infection and development of a common and fatal form of liver cancer. In the process, they have identified a possible way to treat this disease as well as a number of other cancers.
Unisys today announced that its Mexican subsidiary has been awarded a contract by the Secretaria de Gobernacion/Registro Nacional de Poblacion (Mexican Ministry of Internal Affairs/National Citizen Registry) to create and manage an advanced citizen identification solution using biometric technologies.
Patients who suffer from Neurologic Post Treatment Lyme disease and those with the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome report similar symptoms. However unique proteins discovered in spinal fluid can distinguish those two groups from one another and also from people in normal health, according to new research conducted by a team led by Steven E. Schutzer, MD, of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - New Jersey Medical School, and Richard D. Smith, Ph.D., of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
The proportion of Medicaid beneficiaries in managed care increased from 23 percent to more than 60 percent during the same time period," the authors write. There is limited information in peer-reviewed literature on the quality of care delivered within health plans to Medicaid enrollees.
