Patients prone to heart disease may one day be told by physicians to avoid not only fatty foods and smoking but air pollution too.
OncoMed Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a privately held, clinical-stage company developing novel therapeutics that target cancer stem cells (CSCs), or tumor initiating cells, today highlighted new data presented this afternoon in a poster discussion session at the Annual Meeting of the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in Chicago, IL.
Oral cancer claims more lives than leukemia, Hodgkin's lymphoma, laryngeal cancer, testicular cancer, thyroid cancer, or skin cancer. In 2010, approximately 36,540 Americans were diagnosed with this largely preventable type of cancer that affects the mouth and throat; 7,880 died of the disease. Early detection is essential to dramatically reduce the number of deaths from oral cancer.
Life is full of hassles, deadlines, frustrations and demands. Stress can take its toll on a woman's health and spill into the home during the holiday season. In these economic times, tightening budgets during the ‘season to be jolly' brings additional stress.
The January-March issue of AACN Advanced Critical Care features a symposium series focused on the benefits of certification for clinicians and best practices to encourage a culture of certification within teams of acute and critical care professionals.
