New methods to examine the brain and spinal fluid heighten the chance of early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. Results from a large European study, led by researchers at the Karolinska Institutet, are now published in the medical journal BRAIN.
They have found that prolactin, a pituitary hormone that normally stimulates breast development and milk production, initiates a new "signaling pathway" that may regulate the growth and survival of breast cancer cells.
Millipore Corporation, a leading provider of technologies, tools and services for the global life science industry, today announced that Merck KGaA ("Merck") has completed its acquisition of Millipore (the "Acquisition") as of July 14, 2010. As part of the transaction, all issued and outstanding shares of Millipore common stock were exchanged for $107 per share in cash.
