A leading child expert is warning parents to limit the amount of television children watch before the age of two, after an extensive review published in the January issue of Acta Paediatrica showed that it can do more harm than good to their ongoing development.
Ventas, Inc. announced today that it has agreed to sell 5,200,000 shares of its common stock to Citigroup, as sole underwriter, in an underwritten public offering.
Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) - adult cells reprogrammed back to an embryonic stem cell-like state-may better model the genetic contributions to each patient's particular disease. In a process called cellular reprogramming, researchers at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai have taken mature blood cells from patients with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and reprogrammed them back into iPSCs to study the genetic origins of this rare blood cancer.
Australian scientists at CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), have developed a new system to screen for compounds that can inhibit one of the processes that takes place during the progression of Alzheimer's disease.
USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah on Wednesday at the Food Security Investment Forum outlined U.S. plans for its food security partnership with Bangladesh as part of the Feed the Future initiative, the Daily Star reports. The goal of the two-day forum was "to help Bangladesh finalise a roadmap for future investments in food and agriculture," the publication writes (5/27).
