Ministers must urgently rethink their damaging plans to make changes to the NHS Pension Scheme following the publication of a new Bill in the Queen's Speech, the BMA warned today (Wednesday, 9 May 2012).
New insights into what causes uncontrollable bleeding in hemophilia patients are provided in a study published by Cell Press on November 20th in the Biophysical Journal. By revealing that blood clots spread in traveling waves through vessels, the study offers new strategies that could lead to the development of more effective treatments for hemophilia as well as common cardiovascular disorders.
Patients frequently experience severe chronic pain following knee operations. Although the pain is thought to be due to damage to small nerves, it was hitherto impossible to demonstrate this by imaging.

Baby-boomers have spent more years living with more obesity than the previous generation, researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) have found. Although it may be too early to tell whether this will lead to a rise in arthritis rates, the study shows more obesity-related arthritis among baby boomers compared to the previous generation.
