Alkermes, Inc. today announced positive preliminary results from a phase 3 clinical trial of naltrexone for extended-release injectable suspension (XR-NTX) for the treatment of opioid dependence. The six-month phase 3 study met its primary efficacy endpoint and data showed that patients treated once-monthly with XR-NTX demonstrated statistically significant higher rates of clean (opioid-free) urine screens, compared to patients treated with placebo, as measured by the cumulative distribution of clean urine screens (p<0.0002).
PerkinElmer, Inc., a global leader focused on the health and safety of people and the environment, today announced that it has acquired Labtronics Inc., an Ontario, Canada-based leader in providing procedures-based Electronic Laboratory Notebook solutions for laboratories performing routine analysis in multiple industries.
Adoption rates in Australia have touched an all time low since 1970's. Australian Institute of Health and Welfare revealed that in the last financial year there were just 412 adoptions. That is compared with a peak of more than 8,000 adoptions a year in the early 1970s.
"Since Myanmar gained independence from the British in 1948, it has been wracked by armed conflicts and fragile ceasefires with civilians and ethnic rebels," and "[t]he health of Myanmar's women has been one of the biggest casualties," GlobalPost reports.
