Princeton University researchers have observed a self-degradation response to the antidepressant Zoloft in yeast cells that could help provide new answers to lingering questions among scientists about how antidepressants work, as well as support the idea that depression is not solely linked to the neurotransmitter serotonin.
Sonomax Technologies Inc. is pleased to announce that it has signed its first licensing deal whereby its groundbreaking V4 technology has been licensed to Creare Inc. (Creare) for use in a Research and Development (R&D) project being executed on behalf of the United States Navy. If the synergy of Creare and Sonomax produces a product or technology that can be commercialized, then it is agreed that both parties will work together to explore opportunities to jointly license the combined technology.
In the first study of its kind, New England Research Institutes, Inc. (NERI) in collaboration with the Division of Cardiology, San Francisco General Hospital and the University of California, San Francisco tested whether erectile dysfunction (ED) can be used to reclassify patients according to their future risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) beyond traditional risk factors (such as smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc).
Among breast cancer patients, both chemotherapy and tamoxifen independently reduced the risk of developing a second cancer in the other breast, according to a study published online December 25 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
