Aethlon Medical, Inc., the pioneer in developing selective therapeutic filtration devices to address infectious disease, cancer and other life-threatening conditions, announced today that the European Patent Office (EPO) has provided the Company a notice of intent to issue European Patent Application No. 04 703 672.8 entitled "Method For Removal of Viruses From Blood By Lectin Affinity Hemodialysis."
Genzyme Corporation (Nasdaq: GENZ) announced today that the FDA's Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee voted 9 to 3 that a randomized, controlled trial is needed to support the currently proposed label expansion for Clolar® (clofarabine) in adult myeloid leukemia (AML). The committee found that the single-arm clinical study results submitted to support the label expansion showed Clolar was an active agent in acute AML patients, but concluded that a randomized clinical trial should be necessary to better interpret Clolar's efficacy and safety in the proposed patient population.
Low levels of a naturally occurring steroid are associated with an increased risk of heart and blood-vessel disease in elderly men, a new study finds. The results will be presented Saturday at The Endocrine Society's 94th Annual Meeting in Houston.
