("Astellas") announced today that Astellas will undertake a single confirmatory additional Phase 3 clinical trial of KYNAPID(TM) (vernakalant hydrochloride) Injection for rapid conversion of atrial fibrillation to sinus rhythm. The trial, to be called ACT 5, is expected to begin enrolling patients by the end of 2009, with completion expected in the first half of 2011.
Researchers from Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Western Australia have found a simple way to analyze the effectiveness of exercise training that could one day be conducted easily at a local gym or physio.
"[W]hile sitting through events, debates and discussions in New York [at the Commission on the Status of Women meeting], my recurring thought was why, in 2013, are we still arguing over whether women should have ownership of their own bodies?" Liz Ford, deputy editor of the Guardian's global development website, asks in the newspaper's "Poverty Matters Blog."
A new, clinical study confirms that dietary supplementation of nitrate from a natural extract of Amaranthus species nicknamed "red spinach," results in a significant increase in plasma nitrite that ultimately enhances nitric oxide.
