The American Society of Human Genetics and Mayo Clinic Center for Individualized Medicine announced today a formal collaboration under which the two organizations will facilitate the use of genomics in medicine through the education of health professionals.
Scotland's $13 billion chemicals sector will showcase innovative new initiatives at Informex this week, highlighting the country's research and manufacturing expertise, and offering integrated, world-class solutions to the global chemicals industry.
A study by researchers at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health looked at the associations between firearm-related laws and firearm homicides, suicides, and unintentional injuries and deaths. The paper is the first to explore the evidence from around the world on gun laws and gun violence to determine whether gun restrictions help reduce gun deaths. While the research did not conclusively prove that restrictions, or relaxation of laws, reduce gun deaths, the results indicate that gun violence tended to decline after countries passed new restrictions on gun purchasing and ownership
An antimicrobial agent found in common household soaps, shampoos and toothpastes may be finding its way inside human noses where it promotes the colonization of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and could predispose some people to infection.
