People who participate in arts and craft activities and who socialize in middle and old age may delay the development in very old age of the thinking and memory problems that often lead to dementia, according to a new study published in the April 8, 2015, online issue of Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
XenoPort announced today that new data from clinical trials of its product candidates arbaclofen placarbil and XP13512 (gabapentin enacarbil) will be presented at the 62nd Annual American Academy of Neurology meeting in Toronto, Ontario.
SCILEX Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a company engaged in the development and commercialization of late-stage pharmaceutical products focused on the treatment of pain, announced today that it has completed patient enrollment for the dermal safety studies and the pivotal pharmacokinetic study related to its investigational product Ztlido (lidocaine patch 1.8%), a next-generation branded lidocaine patch for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia, also referred to as "after-shingles pain."
A new type of antibody test is being developed by researchers at Linnaeus University and the bioanalysis company Attana. Compared to the binary antibody tests used today, this rapid test can give more detailed information on how our immune systems react to Covid-19 and other types of viruses and bacteria.
A new study of more than 150 COVID-19 patients shows that IgA antibodies dominate the early response to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, coming on more quickly and strongly than IgG and IgM antibodies. This is a somewhat unexpected result, as IgM antibodies are usually the immune system's first responders.
