In what is believed to be the biggest study of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) - also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) - in children to date, researchers at the University of Bristol (UK), have found that almost 2 per cent of 16-year-olds have CFS lasting more than six months and nearly 3 per cent have CFS lasting more than three months (the UK definition).
In a study of more than 2,000 adults, researchers found that two MRI measurements of the abdominal aorta - the amount of plaque in the vessel and the thickness of its wall - are associated with future cardiovascular events, such as a heart attack or stroke. Results of the study are published online in the journal Radiology.
MHAs and staff at the House of Assembly will have their skin checked for skin cancer by St. John's dermatologists at an event at Confederation Building, St. John's, on Tuesday April 20, 2010, from 9.30 am to 12.30pm, to raise awareness about the need for early detection of skin cancer.
