Alere Inc. has initiated a voluntary correction to inform U.S. users of the Alere INRatio and INRatio 2 PT/INR Monitor system of certain medical conditions that should not be tested with the system (INRatio Monitor or INRatio 2 Monitor and INRatio Test Strips).
The proposed 2.3 percent reduction in (Medicare Advantage plan) payments, which comes on top of cuts already scheduled under the Affordable Care Act, pays no mind to the potential impact on quality of care throughout the program. These cuts will apply to all plans no matter the value they bring in providing quality care to beneficiaries or offering innovative solutions that could ultimately be scaled and applied to the broader program.
In an effort to help medical professionals, policy-makers, researchers, the news media and the general public evaluate the quality and usefulness of obesity research, a group of international obesity experts has formed a team that will review and evaluate published research papers in the field of obesity.
XOMA Ltd., a leader in the discovery and development of therapeutic antibodies, announced it has received a $1 million milestone payment from Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited for achieving a pre-established preclinical milestone under the companies' 2006 collaboration agreement, which also calls for additional future milestone payments and royalties on product sales.
