A new amazing illusion proves that defying gravity may be as simple as your point of view.
While much attention is devoted to reducing medical errors in hospitals, there's a lesser focus on rooting out patient care errors in emergency medical services. To address that gap, the Missouri Center for Patient Safety is developing a program to help medical professionals systematically improve quality and reduce errors during treatment and transport provided by ambulance service providers.
Stem cell scientists at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) were awarded stimulus grants totaling almost $2 million to research experimental treatments for blood disorders and inherited lung diseases affecting children.
In patients with recent onset type-2 diabetes, treatment with insulin or the diabetes drug metformin did not reduce inflammatory biomarkers, such as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, although the treatment did improve glucose control, according to a study in the September 16 issue of JAMA.
Oil Can Henry's customers rose to the challenge in July and helped the company raise $45,401 to support the Oregon and SW Washington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to help save lives and end breast cancer. Over the week-long fundraising effort, Oil Can Henry's locations in Oregon and Southwest Washington performed oil changes on 15,746 vehicles. In addition, customers had the opportunity to donate directly to Komen at the time of service.
