Scientists have discovered that the alteration of a single gene could cause some male embryos to develop as females.
Scientists have identified a new mechanism of bacterial pathogenesis. The results of the research project, partly funded by the Academy of Finland, have been published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS).

Researchers at the Technical University of Munich have now measured the forces acting between the building blocks titin and α-actinin which stabilize the muscle.
UCLA has received a five-year, $12.5 million contract award from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute to spearhead an international consortium of medical experts that will study proteins that may be involved in the development of cardiovascular disease.
