Some patients, struggling in the bad economy, aren't paying their doctors. "The problems are especially acute for primary care doctors, but specialists are not immune," the Pittsburgh Business Times reports.
"Women in developing countries could play a major role in remedying the situation, if given the chance," Jeanette Brown, a scientist with the University of Connecticut in Storrs, said on Monday at the 244th National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society (ACS), an American Chemical Society press release reports.

While coronary artery bypass surgery has long been the standard treatment for patients with the most extensive forms of coronary artery disease, the results of a recent study by an international team of researchers suggests that advances in technology appear to be narrowing the "benefit gap" between the two approaches. The results of the study appear in the March 17, 2011 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.
