Washington State University scientists have developed a method to detect the biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease that is 10 times more sensitive than current blood testing technology.
The brain is a complex system made of billions of neurons and thousands of connections that relate to every human feeling, including one of the strongest emotions, fear. Most neurological fear studies have been rooted in fear-conditioning experiments. Now, University of Missouri researchers have started using computational models of the brain, making it easier to study the brain's connections.
The BMA's latest quarterly survey of doctors has found that 71 per cent of hospital doctors had experienced rota gaps in their departments, with 65 per cent reporting they had unfilled posts – 80 per cent of which had remained vacant for six months or more.
Rite Aid announced today that The Rite Aid Foundation is making a $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross to help the victims, families and communities affected by the tornado devastation in Alabama and Tennessee.
Researchers at McGill University have discovered the cause of an inherited form of epilepsy. The disease, known as double-cortex syndrome, primarily affects females and arises from mutations on a gene located on the X chromosome. Drs. Susanne Bechstedt and Gary Brouhard of the Department of Biology have used a highly advanced microscope to discover how these mutations cause a malformation of the human brain.
