The University of Tennessee Health Science Center's College of Nursing has received a three-year, $1.5 million grant from the Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration to fund a much-needed expansion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training and certification in West Tennessee.
Researchers have developed a blood test that could accurately detect up to 50 types of cancers, and some of these detections could be even before the symptoms appear. The test would help physicians detect the origin or the source of cancer within the body explain the researchers from the European Society of Oncology. The study titled, "Sensitive and specific multi-cancer detection and localization using methylation signatures in cell-free DNA," was published in the latest issue of the journal Annals of Oncology.
Cultural and social norms, and myths about how modern contraceptives affect men's virility are just some of the reasons why the uptake of contraception remains low in Sub-Saharan Africa, despite increasing demand.
