By reprogramming skin cells into nerve cells, researchers at Karolinska Institutet are creating cell models of the human brain. In a new study published in Molecular Psychiatry the researchers describe how cells from patients with the severe developmental disease lissencephaly differ from healthy cells.
The FDA has granted Cytori Therapeutics 510(k) marketing clearance for its PureGraft™ System. Cytori will now launch the first and only device in the United States cleared for aesthetic body contouring using autologous fat. PureGraft™ allows a patient's own fat tissue to rapidly be prepared in approximately 15 minutes for re-injection back into the same patient for aesthetic contouring.
Minnesota's Democratic-controlled legislature ended a budget standoff Monday with Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty that focused on an impasse over Medicaid policy, The Wall Street Journal reports.
